The Hiestand Family’s Adoption Journey |

YEAH!!!

11.15.2006 /

I just wanted to post myself, because Todd wrote up the one about the referral. Even though he did a great job, it doesn’t quite express my feelings. So, YEAH YEAH YEAH!!! I had prayed that morning that it would happen before Thanksgiving, and Praise the Lord, it did! I was expecting Teresa to call me so when I saw that she was calling I didn’t think anything of it. But then she said that she had a little boy for us. I asked her if she was joking, and told her that would be a really mean joke. But when she said she wasn’t and went on to tell me about him, I couldn’t believe it. I was driving the car in an area that I have only driven in a few times, so I had to pull the car over because I missed my turn and couldn’t concentrate on driving. And then when I got home, Todd wasn’t there yet, so he made me wait to see the pictures she sent. He is so perfect! Cole got the biggest smile on his face when he saw them. He got really upset in the car when he heard his name was Carlos. But I told him we could change it to Mason. So, his name is officially Mason Carlos Hiestand. He was happy with that.
We just sent the POA to Harrisburg, and then it goes on to the courier in NY. They take it to the Consulate and then send it back to me so that I can send it to Guatemala. After it is in Guatemala the rest of the process will start.
They will do the DNA next and we will be in Family Court pretty much at the same time. And then they do the interviews, and then from Family Court we go into PGN. I will explain the step we are in, in more detail when we get there.
The birthmother is 23 and cleans homes. Teresa said that she can read and write, which is uncommon. Please continue to pray for her, I can’t imagine what she is going through and feeling. What an act of love!!
Thanks so much for all your support! I love him so much already. I just want to smell his head!
