I talked to Teresa last night because I have been hearing people talk about some things going on in Guatemala. They are trying to stop international adoptions, so people met on March 1st and wrote up things they are trying to change. It’s not looking very good for the future. But Teresa said that in order to do everything they want to do, they need a lot of money, which Guatemala doesn’t have. And she said they haven’t signed anything yet. I guess the president could sign it whenever he wanted, but the attorneys are ready to fight it, and would be able to get it overturned because it’s unconstitutional. So basically we need to be praying VERY hard that we will get out of PGN before any of this happens. Because even if he signs it and it gets overturned, that will delay adoptions by alot.
She also said that there’s a good chance that we have been approved, but the main PGN guys has to sign off on it. He’s been letting cases sit on his desk for 5-6 weeks before he signs off on them, just to be a pain. He could easily sign off on them right away and move these adoptions through much quicker, but he isn’t. So, we also need to pray for a miracle that he will sign off on our case quicker than usual, assuming that we don’t get kicked out, which is still a possibility.
And also please be praying for all those children in Guatemala that will be affected by all these changes. The country is trying to basically only make it possible for Guatemalan’s to adopt these children, which won’t happen because they don’t have any money!!! I just feel so sad for all those kids who may be stuck in orphanages or foster homes.

I will be praying for you and your family. I know that waiting for an international adoption can be heartwrenching. My sister is waiting to adopt from China for her second daughter. China has also slowed down the process a lot. She is in the final stages right now also. She is waiting for a photo of her daughter. Hang in there. Your son in adorable and hopefully you will be bringing him home soon. Best wishes from Kim and Annalise.
