Allow me the pleasure of introducing to you our new soon to be adopted son! We just got our referral, which is kind of like the ultimate ultrasound because we get pictures instead of a blurry, grainy black and white image.
Carlos Armando Escobar Soto (Yes, Cole is disturbed because his name is not “Mason,” we’ll work that out later!)
Born October 30, 2006 at 6:30pm in Colonia de la Independencia, Guatemala
We’re not sure when we will get to bring him home from Guatemala so there will be more details to follow (update: apparently it will be about 5-6 months)…for now, just take a good look at our beautiful child.
UPDATE: So, we just found out that we need to send $10,000 to Guatemala City first thing tomorrow morning (yes, adoption is expensive and this is not our last payment). We do have about $7K of it ready to go and will probably get a cash advance in the morning for the rest. But, if you are able and would like to help with this feel free to: 1) mail a gift - contact us for our address or 2) Donate via paypal.

Melanie! I can’t believe it finally happened! :) It must be such a blessing and relief to see God’s hand bringing this all together. I know it’s not over yet, so we’ll continue to pray for smooth transitions and for peace until he comes home. Yay!! :)

He’s BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a joy :)
We just finished our home study today… INS fingerprinting should be within a week or two, things are moving so quickly for our adoption process, it’s unbelievable.
Keep the updates coming!

I am a guatemalan who moved with my whole family here to PA just last year. My last 22 years we have spend it translating the New Testament into one of the mayan languages of my country. We hope to finish it and dedicated back again in Guatemala in the next 2 years, Lord willing. We also adopted a guatemalan baby girl when she was just 5 months old (she will be 17 on feb of next year). I am interested in getting in touch with families who have adopted guatemalan children –or are thinking of doing it–to see if I can serve them as a resource person through the knowledge of the spanish language and culture that i have. The fact that i consider myself bilingual both in spanish and English may be of some help to someone. What leads me to offer myself in service to others is my love for my country, my appreciation for those who love the children of Guatemala and my own wonderful experience as an adopting parent.
