Todd, Cole and I drove to Harrisburg yesterday to get all our PA documents state certified. I was so nervous the whole trip holding onto those important documents, hoping and praying nothing happened to them. I can’t wait until they are out of my hands!!! Everything went great. It took about 20 min. for the lady to certify them. Teresa, at our agency, said it is much better to drive them there and get it done because that 20 min. process would be about a month long if we were to mail them. For some reason they put things on the back burner if you don’t bring them in yourself. So, it was worth the trip! And we met up with some friends who live close to there, so it was a nice day!
I also called to check and see if immigration received our home study and she said they submitted it on the 23rd. And it takes 3-6 weeks from when it was submitted to receive approval. When we receive approval we get what’s called a 171h which is what we need in order to get a referral. So, we are very close to meeting our baby! I’m so excited for that point!!!
AND my sister had her baby yesterday! She had a little girl, Molly. They are both doing wonderful. Molly is adorable (picture phones are great!). So, it was a good day yesterday.

Just something we found helpful….I called after a couple of weeks for our I171H, talked to someone really nice just to check up on it, and I think they bumped up our paperwork, because we got it in record time. Always worth a shot! People tend to be really gracious when you are working on paperwork for an adoption!

Christie and I have a nice friend Molly. Nice name. Plus if she is redhead like me, there’s always Molly Ringwald!

Valerie,
Thanks for that word of advice! I will have to try that and see how it works. Do you think it would be to soon to call sometime this week? This past Friday was one week that they have had our home study. It’s driving me crazy, I just want to call everyday. Were they able to tell you anything when you called, or do you just think that calling was what bumped you up to get it quicker? How long did it take?

Just found your blog from Pomomusings. My wife and I are in the process of adopting a girl from Guatemala. Feel free to check out our blog (www.adventuresinadoption.blogspot.com). We are finishing our homestudy and dossier soon (Lord willing). Sounds like you all are a bit ahead of us. Good luck, blessings to you, and God speed on your adoption journey.
